The short version: We collect what we need to run Prayerwell — your account info, what you generate and save, and basic usage data. We don't sell your data. Your prayers and journal entries are private to you.
1. Who We Are
This Privacy Policy explains how PrayerWell LLC ("we," "us," "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use Prayerwell (the "App").
2. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and a securely hashed password. If you sign in with a third-party provider in the future, we'll collect the information that provider shares with us.
Content You Provide
This includes information you enter to generate prayers (such as your situation, theme, or tone preferences), journal entries, saved prayers, and any personal context you choose to share with the App.
Usage Data
We track basic usage information — such as how many prayers you generate per day and which features you use — to enforce plan limits (Free vs. Pro) and improve the App.
Payment Information
If you subscribe to Prayerwell Pro, payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full credit card number — Stripe handles that directly, and we only receive limited billing information (such as your subscription status and a Stripe customer reference) needed to manage your account.
Device and Technical Information
Like most web apps, we automatically collect some technical information, such as your browser type and general usage patterns, to keep the App secure and functioning properly.
3. Information About Children
Prayerwell's Kids Prayer feature is designed to be used by a parent or guardian, through their own adult account, to generate a bedtime prayer for a child.
We do not collect, store, or retain any personal information about the child. Any name, age, or detail entered to personalize a Kids Prayer is used only in the moment of generation and is never saved to our systems. If a Kids Prayer is saved to a journal, it is stored generically (for example, as "Kids Bedtime Prayer") without any identifying information about the child attached.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Generate personalized prayers, devotionals, and Bible content
- Maintain your account and remember your saved prayers, journal entries, and preferences
- Process subscription payments and manage billing
- Enforce usage limits based on your plan (Free or Pro)
- Send account-related emails, such as welcome messages, receipts, and password resets
- Improve the App and troubleshoot issues
- Keep the App secure and prevent abuse
We do not use your prayer content, journal entries, or personal reflections to train AI models beyond what's needed to generate your own content in the moment.
5. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with:
- Service providers who help us operate the App, including Supabase (database and authentication), Stripe (payment processing), and Anthropic (AI prayer generation). Each of these providers only receives the information necessary to perform their function.
- Legal requirements, if we're required to disclose information to comply with a law, regulation, or valid legal request.
- Business transfers, if Prayerwell is ever acquired or merged, your information may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to the same privacy protections described here.
6. Your Prayers and Journal Are Private
Your saved prayers, journal entries, and personal reflections are private to your account and protected by database-level access controls (row-level security) that prevent other users — including other Prayerwell staff without legitimate need — from accessing them. We treat this content as sensitive and handle it accordingly.
7. Data Security
We use industry-standard security practices to protect your information, including:
- Encrypted connections (HTTPS) for all data in transit
- Secure password hashing (we never store your password in plain text)
- Optional two-factor authentication (MFA) for your account
- Database-level access controls restricting data to your own account
- Bot and abuse protection (hCaptcha) on account creation and sign-in
No system is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
8. Your Choices and Rights
Account Deletion
You can delete your account at any time from Account Settings. This permanently removes your account data, including saved prayers and journal entries, from our systems.
Email Preferences
You can unsubscribe from marketing and notification emails at any time using the unsubscribe link included in those emails. You'll still receive essential account-related emails, such as receipts and security notices.
Access and Correction
You can review and update your account information at any time from Account Settings.
9. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data from our active systems, except where we're required to retain certain information (such as billing records) for legal or accounting purposes.
10. Crisis-Related Features
Our SOS Prayer feature displays crisis support resources (such as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). We do not monitor SOS Prayer usage in real time, and using this feature does not create any special record beyond standard usage data described above.
11. Cookies and Tracking
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. If we add analytics tools in the future, we'll update this policy to describe what's collected.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and may notify you within the App.
